Introducing The Kidlit Unlocked Series with an Opportunity to Submit!

Hello world!!
Welcome to my kidlit blog, Blissfully Bookish. Today, I’m super excited to announce a new format I’ve been working on for the online webinars I’ve been giving. It’s called The Kidlit Unlocked Series and it’s extra special because not only will I offer a craft webinar, but I will also do a Q & A with an industry professional who attendees get to submit to! See details below and check out my first guest:

Craft Topic #1: What makes an editor fall in love with a manuscript?
In this webinar, we’ll explore the current state of the industry and what editors are looking for in submissions. Discover insider tips on crafting a compelling manuscript, avoiding common pitfalls, and making your story rise above the slush pile. Learn what catches an editor’s attention, what keeps them reading, and what can make a manuscript truly unforgettable.
Did you know Elizabeth worked with Mary Pope Osborne, celebrated author of The Magic Treehouse series?? Check out some of her achievements below!
Elizabeth’s bio:
For Elizabeth Law, working with children’s books is a vocation. She began her career at Viking Children’s Books and Penguin Books, where, along with working with authors and artists including Dan Gutman, G. Brian Karas, and Mary Pope Osborne, she created books based on the Corduroy and Madeline properties. Elizabeth was next V.P. and Associate Publisher of Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, where she published best-selling novels and picture books including Unwind by Neil Shusterman, No Talking! by Andrew Clements, and the famously banned picture book And Tango Makes Three. Elizabeth is currently Editor-at-Large at Holiday House, where she has worked with Tomie dePaola and Gail Gibbons and is still working with Dan Gutman! In 2017, she founded her consulting business ElawReads, Inc., where she works privately with authors and artists helping them get their work in shape for submission. When she is not reading or editing, Elizabeth can often be found in the audience of a Broadway or off-Broadway show.
And here’s my bio:

She also continues writing fiction and humorous books, like her debut graphic novel series, GROUCHO THE GROUCHY GROUNDHOG (Andrews McMeel, 2025/6). She has won numerous awards, including the Crystal Kite Award for the Canada and North America division and a Forest of Reading Silver Birch Express Honour, and has received multiple Cybils Award nominations.
